Seriously Outnumbered.

From the City...
So I'm in charge of the little Millie Monster today while her mama is at the market with her bro's and her dad are selling his goods to the restos here in the city.  Simon is away playing at a wedding so it is just me and the little ones, holding down the fort....dare I say, two babies are easier than one fussy baby?    Getting places was a challenge, yes, but once we were there (the park) they were amazing.  When we got back home the two had a huge lunch followed by a session of destroying my newly planted balcony garden and chasing each other around the apartment.  Amazingly there has not been a single tear shed all day, I kid you not.  Now one is sleeping while the other is looking up at me like she just might need a cuddle and a snooze.

Off to market we go..

From the City...

Theo and made the trip to visit Laura at the Evergreen Brickworks Farmers Market here in Toronto. It was my thirdtime being there and I again, was completely blown away by how fun of a spot it is. Us Torontonians are sure lucky to have it.
Laura, of course, had this incredible table of sprouts and micro greens, eggs, parsnips and carrots. Itwas a beautiful sight. Fresh, good green stuff growing right here in ontario. It's about friggin time! Man it was a long winter.

laura and i were like the poster mamas for attachment parenting with our babies slung up on us, it would have been a good pic had i taken one. Butlet me tell you, people love a baby. M&T were just eating up the attention.

Heres a link to the website so you can check out for yourself all of the pretty incredible stuff that goes down at Evergreen Brickworks.

Good day.

Kensington Market

From the City...

I remember when I first moved to Toronto a couple of years ago I wanted to venture to this Kensington market that I had heard so much about. I wandered for about two hours somewhere along Bloor Street but luckily I finally found it. Since then the market has become my favorite place in Toronto, hands down. Luckily Simon and I live good and close because we venture there for just about everything; from meat and vegetables to bread and cheese.

Here's some pics I took along my journey through the market the other day...

Finally the home to farm fair!

From the City...

Well two weeks ago now (shesh, slacking on the blogging) Laura and I helped in the kids room at Slow Food's annual Farm to Home Fair. It was another great slow food event with lots of good food, people and information for those interested in supporting local.

We also used the event as an opportunity to promote our blog by handing out little bags of goodies including basil seedlings and seed potatoes.

...a little fun in the kid's room! I didn't manage to get a good pic of it but Laura and I had brought in a couple bags of soil, some shovels, toy tractors, assorted plastic pigs and cows and a handful of beans and potatoes for the kids to 'plant'. It was pretty fun.

...deliciously beautiful bowls of goodness.

...Our friends from KEG were also there doing a maple syrup tasting as well as giving information on their very popular (rated number 1 by Toronto Life Readers 2009) CSA box, which Simon and I are so excited to be taking part in this summer!

...music was provided by the super talented Toronto band, The Strumbellas who fit the venue and the crowd perfectly (photo credit: Megan Ward).

All in all it was a pretty great way to spend a Saturday right here in the city...
